Create Music?

I have often thought to myself: How is it that people get their music out there. I know that sending in a demo to a record company is pretty much useless, so how is it done? The internet has opened up a whole new world for musicians. Myspace pages, Facebook pages and Twitter pages are allowing bands and musicians to share their music with very large audiences. Now we need to start finding out if the music is any good. So let's rate it and reward the best ones out there and give everybody a chance.
